Radsolaw (Radek) Wiechecki Graduated from the University of Victoria with a BSc Biology and BSc Kinesiology. Through Radek’s time studying Biology, he gained a tremendous appreciation of the molecular basis of genetics, various molecular techniques, molecular basis of cancer, physiology, endocrinology, environmental conservation, history of biology, and medicine.
Radek’s love for sport performance, exercise, human movement and experience with sports injuries led him to pursue a second degree in Kinesiology. In the time studying Kinesiology, Radek grew fascinated with biomechanics, functional anatomy, exercise prescription, exercise physiology, coaching, care and prevention of athletic injuries, and adaptive physical activity.
His passion for coaching movement has lead him to many coaching opportunities including Capital City FC, and Oak Bay Junior Boys soccer. His knowledge and skills in biomechanics, exercise prescription, and exercise physiology have also given him a role as co-president role for the UVic Weight Lifting and Powerlifting club. Here he coached members to a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes in the Junior 93kg weight class, as well as 'Lifter of the Meet' award at the Gord Pronick Memorial Powerlifting Championships in 2015.
His appreciation for adaptive physical activity and inclusive opportunities has also inspired him to create and run the Victoria Blind Soccer Club. Using unique strategies to working with participants, Radek and his group of volunteers are able to instruct and teach new skills to participants to confidently play this interesting new sport. Radek holds strong beliefs in safe motor control and appropriate movement. He believes in health literacy and proper self-management as being major aspects of rehabilitation. He knows that understanding the entire person including their environment is a vital part of the rehabilitation process. He is a strong advocate of first moving well and then moving often.
Radek looks to protect individuals from injury, correct improper movement patterns, and develop the movement machinery by adapting the environment stimuli and its demands.
Radek will be instructing our new Victoria Clinical Osteofit Classes Starting September 2017
