Our Staff: Lisa Hostman
Certified Pilates Instructor
Special Interest in Scoliosis
We are pleased to welcome Lisa to our amazing team!
Lisa was first introduced to Pilates in the process of retiring from a professional dance career. Teaching since 2007, her primary fascination with this method remains in its intelligent capacity to retrain non-optimal movement patterns with more efficient and functional ones.
With specializations in both Scoliosis* as well as back pain, Lisa helps clients fully understand and take ownership of what they're doing physically in order to create lasting change. Her obsession with and years of studying how and why the body gets ‘stuck’ has provided her with a keen eye. Whether they come from rehab or athletic backgrounds, clients will attest that working with Lisa is both physically challenging and very rewarding; she offers consistent, progressive feedback in a supportive and fun environment.
"I'm so excited about the progress I'm making from a debilitating injury with Lisa's guidance and incredible support. Her knowledge about how the body functions and her ability to apply it to my recovery is amazing."
Lisa completed Pilates-based Scoliosis specialization programs with Suzanne Martin (DPT) and Schroth Method-inspired Karena Thek-Lineback. Having also had personal experience with what it's like to live with a functional spinal curvature, Lisa is passionate about providing her clients with both physical strategies and a deeper anatomical understanding of their own Scoliosis. In this way they can better manage how it shows up in their everyday lives.
"There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophy"
