Our Staff: Lindsey Tabish
Functional Movement Certified (FMS)
BCAK Practicing Member
Lindsey Tabish completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria in 2017 following completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 2014. From her time as an undergraduate, Lindsey gained a deep appreciation for the human body from a cellular to a physiological level. As a Victoria Kinesiologist at the Gordon Head Recreation Centre Clinic, Lindsey strives to incorporate a holistic and mindful approach for her clients. Lindsey provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere for clients, fostering the client’s rehabilitation journey, and taking on the role of coach when motivation is needed
Lindsey is an active practicing member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) and is trained in the Functional Movement Screening System (FMS). The FMS is a standardized tool that is essential in assessing injury risk, evaluating fundamental movement patterns, and in developing individualized corrective exercise programs
Lindsey is committed to community involvement and demonstrated this through her volunteer engagement, most notably working with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. There, she worked within the physiotherapy clinic to provide support to both individuals living with MS, as well as the professional staff within the physiotherapy clinic, pool, and during exercise programs. Primarily, Lindsey assisted clients in managing spasticity, maintaining or improving range of motion, aided with transfers from one area of therapy to another, and supported them in the performance of their exercises. Lindsey’s curiosity with motor control and movement disorders translated over to her work as a research assistant in the Neuroeconomics Laboratory during her time as an undergraduate
As an avid volleyball player, Lindsey has experienced first hand many sports related injuries and the journey towards rehabilitation. Her education in Kinesiology cemented her belief that physical activity is essential to a healthy well-rounded lifestyle. In her spare time, Lindsey is a dedicated yogi, practicing a vinyasa power style of yoga which focuses on dynamic flow.
Lindsey works with the team at the Gordon Head Recreation Centre Clinic, representing Shelbourne Physiotherapy and Massage, teaching pool and gym rehabilitation classes.
