How can our Kinesiologists Help You?
Posted in News on Jun 10, 2019.
Kinesiology is a profession that is gaining momentum in the health and wellness industry, therefore we want to introduce these exercise specialists, to further your understanding of what active rehabilitation can look like.
Programming is dependant on the specific needs of a client and can include development in flexibility, strength, posture, body alignment and awareness, and balance. After guidance from a family doctor or physiotherapist, kinesiology plays an important role in the healing process, through use of active rehabilitation. Maintaining movement after an injury whether it is sports related, work related, or due to a car accident it is imperative for the body to continually repair itself. Kinesiology following sessions with, or in combination with a physiotherapist or massage therapist, can be key to a smooth recovery. Spending time with one of our kinesiologists at Gordon Head Recreation Centre offers the opportunity to safely strengthen and rehabilitate the correct musculature pertaining to your injury. Sessions with our kinesiologists, Emma Watt and Larry Muir, will also provide you with confidence throughout your recovery, to continue living an active lifestyle once your rehabilitation is complete.
Kinesiology is offered through group sessions and personalized private sessions in the gym and the pool at Gordon Head Rec Centre. In the gym our kinesiologists will utilize various forms of equipment such as free weights, resistance bands, and machines to help you manage, rehabilitate, and prevent disorders that impede movement. Gym sessions will also provide you with confidence to eventually continue training on your own, as you will be shown how to correctly go through functional movements. In the pool, our kinesiologists will guide you through various movements for a safe and enjoyable experience. The water will allow your muscles to relax and ease the pain in your joints allowing you to move freely while gaining confidence and building strength that will transfer through to your everyday life. Due to buoyancy, this weightless experience also helps to increase the range of motion of your joints while minimizing pain. The group sessions help to create a community of like-minded people working on their own personal goals under the guidance of a kinesiologist.
Please do not hesitate to contact Samantha Birosh, the Gordon Head Rehabilitation Coordinator at (250) 595-5858 or email@example.com to ask more questions or book an appointment.
